Looking for that perfect show to do with the kids over summer break? Then let me introduce you to Cirque du Soleil Paramour. Check out some of the highlights below from this breathtaking production that is perfect for the entire family.
Over the weekend, B and I were invited to experience Cirque du Soleil Paramour, the organization’s first created specifically for Broadway at the Lyric Theatre (213 West 42nd Street).
To be honest, I never had the chance to experience any of the other Cirque Du Soleil performances of its kind. So we were especially excited to be experiencing this together, as a family.
PARAMOUR spins the thrilling tale of a beautiful young actress forced to choose between love and art in the glamorous world of Golden Age Hollywood. Paramour features over 15 different circus arts disciplines, many of which have never appeared on Broadway. The disciplines cover aerial strap artists, banquine, Chinese pole, contortion, cyr wheel, hand to hand, hand to trapeze, juggling, lyra, Russian bar, Spanish web, teeterboard, tumbling, trampoline, and trapeze. OH MY!
As soon as the show started, we were in awe with the breathtaking stage performances. This show featured eye-popping acrobatics and sumptuous music and dance. Nothing that I have ever seen before in a play. One minute you are watching a big Broadway show, then the next you are holding your breath from the sudden, high-energetic acrobatics. For example, there’s a big chase scene (in the second act) where the characters are jumping from building to building doing flips and dives. FANTASTIC!
To say that we loved the show is merely an understatement, I highly recommend it to anyone who is a Broadway and/or Cirque fan.
Performances are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday at 7:30 pm; Friday at 8 pm; Saturday at 3 and 8 pm; Sunday at 3 and 7 pm. Tickets are $55- $145: www.ParamourOnBroadway.com (877) 250-2929.
