Preschool Athlete Program Helps Make Separation a Little Easier on Parents. Does your little one just not want to let go when you try to say good-bye for Preschool or even feel a bit anxious when you drop them off at their friend’s birthday party? Entering a new environment filled with unfamiliar people can cause anxiety for children — and their parents!
Kids In Sports offers a Preschool Athlete program specifically designed to help alleviate the stress of separation and make it feel like a fun, healthy, exciting time in your child’s development. Kids In Sports is a specialized sports program for children 12 months- 12 years old headquartered on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and offers its programming in several locations throughout New York City, including the 92nd Street Y and Greenwich, Connecticut, with franchises in Walpole, Massachusetts and Fayetteville, North Carolina. They will be opening in Scarsdale early next month as well with a whole week of free trial classes available!
Kids In Sports instructs children in multi-sport classes including Basketball, Baseball, Football, Hockey, Lacrosse, Soccer and Volleyball. Founders Mike Strutt and Kenny Colon, believe in the long term benefits that children adhere to from playing more than one sport, and such was the foundation for their program. With a curriculum designed to teach your child the concept and technique of each individual sport, while getting the exposure to them all.
Kids In Sports’ Preschool Athlete program was designed to help ease these worries for parents leaving their children somewhere new. With a program and curriculum designed to make drop off a lot less scary, combining fun, sports, exercise, and education, we believe the structure of our class will your child smiling a little more each week and you feeling less guilty about those much needed grocery store runs.
For children 2.5 – through 4 years old, their Preschool Athlete program is a 2 hour drop off class providing children the opportunity to separate from their caregivers by playing sports and cooperative games as well as other activities to enhance their gross motor skills for one hour. For the second hour, they transition to the classroom portion of the program, where they focus on socialization and stimulating play introducing educational concepts including letter recognition, language development, and other cognitive development activities. With more comfort building activities like circle time and snacks, the class helps ease any nervousness your children are feeling. Their low coach to child ratio of experience and loving staff provides a caring atmosphere for learning and play to develop confidence and independence for your kids.
Here are a few tips to keep in mind the next time you want to give drop off a try – tear free!
– Just like with sports, start with a warmup. Stop by the location you’re dropping your child off at and meet the faces of the company. Observe the interaction with the adults and children. Get a feel for the atmosphere. Appreciate at the colors and how they make you feel. The more your child feels at home with you there, the more he or she will adapt positively when you’re not around.
– Create a routine. This is why our preschool athlete program has two or 3 day options available to build up a routine for your children.
– Learn the other kids’ names. Our coaches make it a priority to say hello and introduce all of their friends to each other so they feel as comfortable as possible.
