You have already read the cool ways that you can teach reading and math with the use of plastic easter eggs, so today I am going to share with you how those very same plastic eggs can be turned into shakers just in time for Cinco De Mayo.
There’s always a reason to plan a party with your kids, so when I volunteered to plan this years Cinco De Mayo party in my kindergartners classroom I was super excited and decided on having them make they very own maracas. Over the weekend, Lil B and I did a few samples and I have to say its super easy and cheap.
Here’s what you’ll need:
– Plastic easter eggs
– Rice or jewelry making beads
– Plastic spoons
– Colorful Washi tape
Pour a few craft plastic beads (which can also be purchased from your local dollar store) or white rice into some empty plastic Easter eggs.
Close it up, put the head of two plastic spoons on either side of the egg and then wrap some colorful Washi tape around it.
For additional support, tape the bottom of the spoon handles together with tape, and you are done!
Now you can let your kids shake it and make music! The great thing? These maracas are not very loud and annoying! It’s an added bonus!
