I am no fan of the great outdoors so when this project was introduced to my campers, I couldn’t wait to explore it with my own little ones at homes. And it was a hit!

Here’a what you’ll need to make the perfect fake campfire:
Step 1: Paint your child’s hand with red (you can even use orange and/or yellow) paint and then have them press their handprint on white construction paper. This will be the flames. Let air dry, completely (preferably overnight).
Step 2: Gather toilet paper tubes or cut a brown paper bag into strips that can be rolled into tubes. Paint tubes with brown paint. Let dry completely. (preferably overnight)
Step 3: Once dried, cut around the handprint paper.
Step 4: Stack tubes together and tape to hold. Place two or three handprints around the tube to give the illusion of flames coming out of the wood.
This would be a fun ‘Rainy Day’ idea to keep the kids (and you) from getting cabin fever or a way to introduce camping to your little ones.
