When you are planning on attending a wedding or even being part of one how you looks matters. Weddings are often very formal events with strict dress codes. Here are some ways that you can find the perfect pair of shoes for your next wedding or event:
1. Know the dress code – Some weddings are very formal and others are more casual. You would not want to show up in heels to a western themed wedding, but you would not want to don cowboy boots to a formal wedding. If in doubt ask the maid of honor. She should be able to guide you in the right direction without you having to bother the bride or groom.
2. Indoors or out – Having a wedding or event indoors or out makes a big difference. While an indoor event will let you wear your sharpest, highest heels, doing so outdoors will often end up with a fall. For outdoor events go for shoes with sturdy soles and ones that won’t throw you off balance should you step on a patch of grass or a soft spot of dirt.
3. Follow the seasons – Summer weddings are great places to show off those strappy sandals you love, but doing so in a winter wedding is a huge faux pas. Even your basic pumps have hot and cold weather editions, so make sure you are not wearing suede in summer or white in winter… unless you are the bride, of course.
4. Consider comfort – Most weddings and events require you to be standing for a long period of time. Make sure the shoes you choose are comfortable enough to do so. You may also have to walk to the reception area, so do not choose a shoe that will have you tottering along. If you will be drinking consider that as well. You do not want to end up on your face.
These are just a few suggestions to avoid a fashion don’t and keep the focus on the bride and groom. Happy wedding season!
