This week’s POSH MOM OF THE WEEK is not just your typical “mom blogger” with tales of her and her family, but she is a mom that vlogs her shopping adventures and shares with us her OOTD.
Mimi Scarlett, 32, is a wife, SAHM to her 1-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son. She is originally from Washington, D.C., but now resides in Atlanta with her husband and family. Mimi is the founding editor of Lipgloss and Binkya blog that I frequent daily – and so should you – from her great fashion finds from thrift shopping and her weekend wrap-ups are posts that I just can’t get enough of. That is why Mimi is this week’s feature spotlight:

MommyPosh: Tell me about yourself. Your Family.

Mimi: I am a reformed workaholic, turned SAHM. I am quite simple and easy going. I love to laugh and have a good time. My family and friends are very important to me. I spent many years always worrying and stressing. I finally had my AHA moment. Life is to short, I plan to enjoy it. I truly believe everything will work itself out and while your waiting have fun. Some things you can’t control, but you can control your happiness. I am the mother of a 6 y.o. a 1 y.o and the stepmother of a 10 y.o. My husband and I met in college. He is the most amazing man.

MP: You are a mom, a wife, and a woman – what do you take most pride in?

Mimi: I take pride in being a woman. I embrace all that I am. Being a woman encompasses being a wife, mom and many other things.

MP: Tell us about your blog – Lipgloss & Binky: The Rants and Raves of a Fab Mom

Mimi: The tagline of my blog is the “The Rants and Raves of a Fab Mom” and it is exactly that. My little corner of the blogosphere is my place to vent and share. I love the people I have met there. The community of women in blogging is amazing. I blog about everything from parenting to fashion, it really is an indication of how random I am in real life!

MP: How are you different from other “mom bloggers”?

Mimi: I don’t know if I really think I am much different, but I think I may get out and do more away from my children that some of the bloggers that I read. I enjoy getting out and I’m just really happy that my husband supports and understands that. He rocks!

MP: Where do you shop for your kids?  For you?

Mimi: For my children TJ Maxx, Marshall, Target, Carter’s, Osh Kosh, Old Navy, H&M, and Gap are my old faithfuls. For myself, I love to thrift so most of my apparel comes from the Goodwill or some type of consignment shop. Some of my favorites would be Gap, Banana Republic, Chico’s, and Macy’s if I had to name.

MP: Who is your style inspiration?

Mimi: I love Rachel Zoe’s style. I love a simple chic look and I think she does it the best.

MP: How would you describe yourself as a mom?

Mimi: I would like to think I am open minded. I don’t obsess over their every move. Life won’t treat them the same way when I’m not there. With my daughter I want to lead a life that shows her that when she grows up she can be an awesome wife and mom without losing herself in the process. I hope to teach her that through example. I am very loving and give tons of praise for the tiniest things they do. I hug and kiss them A LOT! My mother did it with me and I remember that.

MP: What’s your life motto?

Mimi: Everything will work itself out just as it should. In the meantime, enjoy life.

MP: Fill in the blank: I can’t enough of  ___

Mimi: Nail polish. My collection is insane and excessive

MP: Fill in the blank: My signature look is __

Mimi: Classic Chic. I love the basics, crisp white shirt with a little umph added in!

MP: What’s next for Lipgloss and Binky?

Mimi: So much! I am learning so much about blogging. I would like to grow the blog in the next year. Obtaining sponsorships and the ability to review and bring useful products to my readers is on my to do list. I also plan to attend my first blog conference in 2012 along with pairing up with other bloggers to hold some events. The sky is the limit.

You can find more of Mimi’s rants, raves and randomness on my blog,www.lipglossandbinky.com and on Twitter: @glossymimi.

In a post titled You Know You Are A Hoarder When…I mentioned my friend’s love for couponing. She isn’t the “extreme coupouner”, as protrayed on the TLC reality show, but she does have great money saving tips for you and your family, which is why she is this week’s feature spotlight.

Let’s welcome Crystal Holloway, a wife, Stay At Home Mom, former teacher, and now owner of a crochet line called Sylvia Enid Designs. In less than two months of giving birth to her son (now 3 years old), she found herself unemployed and becoming a SAHM, which has unexpectedly fulfilled her.  Determined to find as much joy in work, as she does from being a mom, she took some time to listen to her inner voice and follow the path that God was leading her towards. Recently, she launched Super SAHM 930, a blog catered to meal plans and recipes, preschool activities and educational aids, product reviews and what else….money saving tips. Read her journey below:

Posh Mom of the Week: Crystal Holloway

Mommy Posh: Tell us a little about yourself. Your family.

Crystal Holloway: I love crafting, writing, and reading. My husband and I have been married for five years and we have two boys, aged 17 and 3.

MP: You are a mom, a wife, a woman – what do you take most pride in?

CH: I take most pride in being a mom. I have fulfilled many of my life’s dreams, but ultimately I knew I would never feel satisfied until I became a mom. It’s been a long, painful journey, but worth every moment. Becoming a mom has made me a better wife and woman.

MP: Tell us about your blog, Super SAHM 930 and your business website  Sylvia Enid Designs. What made you launch them?

CH: My blog, Super SAHM 930 has a little of everything. Each week you’ll find recipes, preschool lesson plans, product reviews, money saving tips, and much more. I’ve always loved to write and I was a teacher before becoming a SAHM. Blogging about things I’ve learned along the way was a natural extension for me. I became a first time mom and lost both my grandmothers within one year. I began to use crochet (a craft I learned from my paternal grandmother) as a creative and emotional outlet more and more. At the same time I was looking for a way to honor my grandmothers’ memories and find a business I could do from home. My line of crocheted goods, Sylvia Enid Designs was born.

MP: As an avid couponer, do you relate to the women on the TLC’s show “Extreme Couponing” or extreme couponers in general?

CH: I can relate to the women on “Extreme Couponing” in some ways. When I’m doing a transaction where I know I’m getting a lot of product for free or very close to it I get a rush. My nerves are on edge until all of my coupons go through and I’m on my way out of the store with my booty. I DO NOT let couponing consume my life or my home. I spend about three hours a week on list writing and sorting and clipping coupons. I only get what I need and donate my excess or freebies I know I won’t use to my family, friends, and charity.

MP: Any tips on how to be a smart food shopper?

CH: Whether or not you coupon my #1 tip for being a smart food shopper is to stockpile. When you see an item your family uses regularly on sale don’t buy just enough to last until you go grocery shopping next week. Buy enough to last up to 12 weeks because stores usually rotate sales every 6-12 weeks. By doing this you will never run out of a staple and be forced to pay full price.

MP: Who are your style inspirations and why?

CH: I have a pretty eclectic sense of fashion. My look may shift from Bree Van de Kamp to Erykah Badu and everything in between. Both of my grandmothers were very prim and proper Jamaicans and taught me how to be a lady. Because of them no matter what I wear I make sure my clothes and hair are always neat, clean, and fit well.

MP: How would you describe yourself as a mom?

CH: I would describe myself as a well rounded mom. I do structured activities with my children like schoolwork, playgroups and sports, but I also let Moose A. Moose babysit when I’m working on a project.

MP: What’s your life motto?

CH: “Don’t worry about a thing, cause every little thing’s gonna be alright.” -Bob Marley

MP: Fill in the blank: I may have too many _____

CH: pants

MP: My signature style look is _____

CH: I don’t think I have a signature style look, but my favorite article of clothing is skinny jeans. Change the top and shoes and you can go from soccer mom to hot mama in no time!

Each week we will bring to you a mom that signifies overall POSHness, a mom that reveals real stories and experiences that celebrate, entertain and inspire the woman, who is a mom.

We simply LOVE this week’s Posh Mom of The Week and by the end of this article you will to.

Let’s welcome Camesha “Cam” Gosha as this week’s feature spotlight. Cam is a television promo writer/producer, a blogger, wife and mom to one adorable little boy. Becoming a mother prompted her to start the blog Bibs & Baubles where she shares her views on mommyhood and the endless pursuit to rock at being mommy and wife, while still following her dreams.

This POSH “fashion blogger” chats it up with us about her work/life balance, her fashion icons and her obsession.

MommyPosh: Tell us a little about yourself. Your family.
Camesha: My husband and I are both Midwest transplants living in L.A. I’m the creative, he’s the brain. We’ve been married 4 years and we have one son, LJ. He’s almost two. We are also parents to our fur baby, Lola.

MP: You are a mom, a wife, a woman – what do you take most pride in?
Cam: I take the most pride in being a woman. I feel like being a mommy and a wife have only added to my woman-ness. If that makes sense.

MP: Tell us about your blog – Bibs and Baubles. What made you launch a blog?
Cam: Bibs & Baubles is a mix of mommy/life missives and fashion talk. I launched my blog in January (2011). I wanted to have a place to talk about my attempts to balance my life as a working mom and wife. I didn’t want to get to a place where I was losing me and I knew other women felt the same way. It’s been great to be a part of this unique community of women from all over! Isn’t the internet awesome?!

MP: Who are your style inspirations?
Cam: My style inspirations are probably Kimora (Lee Simmons) and Victoria Beckham. On a regular basis, I think I’m much more pared down than these ladies but we all need something to aspire to, right?

MP: How would you describe yourself as a mom?
Cam: As a mom, I think I’m pretty laid back and always making sure I’m present. I don’t get as much time with my son as I would like because I work outside of the home so when I’m with him I make every attempt to really pay attention to what we’re doing whether it’s as simple as reading a book or staring at the ants marching across the sidewalk

MP: What’s your life’s motto?
Cam: My life’s motto is two-fold. (1)What you focus on grows – When every thing is going crazy I try to focus on the things that are just right. The more I focus on that, the more the other stuff is minimized. (2) Be yourself – everyone else is taken.

MP: Fill in the blank: I may have too many __________
Cam: I may have too many pairs of jeans! It’s an obsession. Too many cuts and washes to choose from!

MP: Describe your signature look.
Cam: My signature look involves – ahem, jeans. I usually pair them with a really girly blouse and great flats or a kitten heel. I don’t do the super high heels because I’m super tall (6’1”) and I don’t like being 6’6” with heels on. Sorry, Kimora!

What to know more about Cam? Read her blog and follow her tweets. We do!

Each week we will bring to you a mom that signifies overall POSHness, a mom that reveals real stories and experiences that celebrate, entertain and inspire the woman, who is a mom.

This week’s Posh Mom Of The Week is stay-at-home mom, wife, interior designer and President of Elizabeth Holmes Designs, Elizabeth “Liz” Holmes.

READ: WEEK 1: POSH MOM OF THE WEEK

This POSH “mompreneur” chats is up with us about her family, her signature look and how the late Steve Jobs led her to finding her passion.

MommyPosh: Tell us a little about yourself. Your family.

Liz:  I grew up in a home with white walls, plastic covered chairs and china that came out only on special occasions. Who I am today is the exact opposite of that. I love color…everywhere; the only plastic I like is the kind that can be swiped, and I believe any occasion is special if it’s with people you love. When you have your own family you realize that you can follow tradition or establish your own. I have a 13 ½ month old son with my husband of six years. I am fortunate to be a working mom who gets to work from home and spend time with my son.

MP: As an interior designer, who and what are your inspirations?

Liz: I’m inspired by Charlotte Moss, Sheila Bridges, and the late Steve Jobs. By transitioning from a career on Wall Street, Charlotte made me realize it’s never too late to do something you love, especially when it’s in your blood. Sheila is the epitome of effortless style and beauty. [On my personal blog] I included a commencement speech that Steve Jobs gave at Stanford. What I want my son to get from that speech some day is that you have to “find what you love.”

I find inspiration in vintage clothing stores, yard sales, walking through the garment district, strolling through a museum on a Sunday morning. I’m also inspired by past pop culture — be it hairstyles like flips and afros to saddle shoes, shell-top Adidas and Cazal glasses to the heavy chunky jewelry worn by Run DMC and Salt-n-Pepa to images of Times Square pre-Disneyfication.  Simply put, if you observe what’s around you, you can find inspiration just about anywhere.

MP: You went to law school and worked in real estate and government, what led you to become an interior designer?

Liz: It took me quite a while to find my voice, to take a leap of faith in myself and my craft and to say this is what I do best and this is what I’m going to do professionally. For as long as I can remember, it was drilled into me that I was going to be a lawyer or a doctor — no other options. So I enrolled in law school. After my first semester, I knew it wasn’t for me, but fear of disappointing the people who sacrificed so much for me eventually led to another arduous semester after another until I graduated. That led to jobs so dissatisfying that I became physically ill on a Sunday because it meant the start of yet another work week. Have you ever had a performance review at your job right before it’s time to receive or be denied a raise? Try doing a performance review of your life and if you come to the conclusion that you’re doing what you’re doing for all the wrong reasons, then it’s time to move on.

MP: You are a mom, a wife, a woman, and an interior designer – what do you take most pride in?

Liz: I take most pride in being a mom who balances career and family.

MP: Tell us about your website and blog – Elizabeth Holmes Design?

Liz: My website profiles some of the work I’ve done for my clients. My blog, DECOR+AID features design guidance and inspiration, as well as information on products I’m working with and also spotlights  artisans I enjoy. My site started  out as a blog in 2009, but has evolved into a full-fledged website over the past year.

MP: If you could compare being a POSH MOM to a POSH SPACE, what would you do?

Liz: I think your home is an extension of who you are and should be reflective of your personal taste and style. As a designer, I am constantly looking at what’s happening in fashion in terms of color and texture, and I often bring that to my design aesthetic. My ideal decor is easy, modern and eclectic. If you walk into my office you’ll find Asian-inspired pieces and a lot of texture  – from big heavy throws to alpaca pillows.  My dining room is black and white, giving me free range to play with colorful linens and plates and to also bring focus on my food. My living room is neutral with pops of aqua and orange. I must have been channeling my husband’s Miami Dolphins love.

My decor has changed with life changes and the biggest game-changer has been the birth of my son. I don’t restrict his enjoyment of our home, nor do I make certain areas off limits. I choose textiles and accessories that are stylish but easy to maintain because at the end of the day you can’t be tied to objects. And if you’re afraid that a white flokati rug is going to be a canvas for projectile vomit, then you go in a different direction.

MP: Who is your style inspiration and why?

Liz: Clodagh. Because of her use of natural materials. When I walk into someone’s home for a design consult, I’m always amazed at what they’re willing to toss in order to achieve their ideal decor. I think you can always improve upon what you have through some form of modification, be it upholstery, staining, or painting.  Repurposing an object is part of the green design movement, and I try to incorporate that into my services as much as possible.

MP: How would you describe yourself as a mom?

Liz: Like any first-time mom I’m anxious, nervous, restless, sleep-deprived, excited, and ultimately hopeful.

MP: What’s your life motto?

Liz: Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind. – Dr. Seuss.

Liz: My signature look is sophisticated, modern.

I am pleased to bring to you the newest segment called “Posh Mom Of The Week”. Each week we will bring to you a mom that signifies overall POSHness, a mom that reveals real stories and experiences that celebrate, entertain and inspire the woman, who is a mom.

My first guest, I am proud to say is my Friend, as well as, a Mother, a Wife, a Caterer and a Promoter of Health and Wellness, Ivette Maymi. This POSH mom chatted with me about how she inspires others to become fit and healthy with the success of the Body by Vi 90 Day Challenge, the launch of her food blog, her family, kitchen must haves and easy breezy recipes (that even I can follow).

MommyPosh: Tell us a little about yourself. Your family.
Ivette: I’m 39, happily married for 6 years and I have two beautiful children, Cailyn 13 and Caleb 2. I manage my husband’s financial services business, run my catering biz, and work with an amazing health and wellness company. I LOVE to cook, read, dance, sing, relax with my family, and travel.

MommyPosh: Tell us about the launch of your new blog – Healthy Is the New Delicious?
Ivette:  I designed the blog to show people how to stop thinking negatively about healthy food. Healthy food IS delicious. There’s a way to prepare your meals using substitutions or even different preparation techniques that bring about the same satisfaction as if you ate the fattier counterpart. You CAN eat delicious food, GUILT FREE!

MommyPosh: When did you discover your love for healthy cooking?
Ivette: Honestly, I was never a “healthy” eater. I pretty much ate whatever I felt like eating. Once that caught up to me, I realized I had to make a change. When I lost 30 lbs. earlier this year, I realized that I didn’t want to just lose the weight, I wanted to change my lifestyle. I started preparing dishes that tasted just as good, if not better, than their fattier counterparts, and thus began my love affair

MommyPosh: Tell us about your healthy lifestyle philosophy?
Ivette: I don’t believe in dieting. I found out the hard way that you can diet and restrict yourself until you’re completely miserable and if you don’t make a change in your eating lifestyle, you’ll gain the weight back. I yoyo-dieted on and off for 2 years before I found the health challenge that changed it all for me. I never struggled with my weight before. I modeled when I was younger. So the low point for me was developing gallbladder disease. According to the doctors, I didn’t fit the profile for someone who would get gallstones, but I knew that my careless eating contributed to it. I had emergency surgery six months after my c-section and it led to a lot of depression. I just couldn’t get fit and the doctors warned me about exercising. View Post
