I recently partnered with what is considered to be the coolest and most creative childcare service every to hit the New York City theater stage…

So, if you are lover of Broadway shows, but can’t find adequate childcare before curtain call then look no further…

Playwrights Horizons is pleased to announce the launch of PLAYTIME! at Playwrights Horizons, its a a brand new program offering affordable, professional childcare while you see a show. Playwrights Horizons has teamed up with Sitters Studio, a bonded and insured company made up of sitters who are working artists, which will provide and operate the program in Playwrights Horizons’ very own building.

With PLAYTIME!, while patrons enjoy a Playwrights Horizons performance, their children will be upstairs in a rehearsal space having his or her own fun, artistic experience – learning a dance or song, making a craft project or participating in a myriad of other artistic activities provided by Sitters Studio. The program is available for children ages 4-12 (potty-training required). All Studio Sitters undergo background checks and are CPR certified.

Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of visiting Playwrights Horizons and seeing ASSISTANCE with the hubby (read my complete review on Wednesday!). Here are list of available shows:

Playwrights Horizons: ASSISTANCE, THE BIG MEAL
Signature: BLOOD KNOT, HURT VILLAGE, THE LADY FROM DUBUQUE
Westside: LOVE LOSS AND WHAT I WORE, RATED P
Visit PLAYTIME online or contact Emily at playtime@PlaytimeNYC.org. You can also call (212) 564-1235, ext. 3153 (M-F, 10a-6p).

You must reserve childcare at the time you book your performance tickets, and no fewer than 10 days prior to your desired performance.

Disclosure: As a partner of Mama Drama and PlayTime! I received complimentary Broadway tickets for review. Nonetheless all opinions expressed are my own.

Having just passed the annual day of romance when most men feel compelled to at least give romance some thought I got to thinking about the issue in general. Some men are naturally romantic, and others simply don’t know what it means. Every person has their own definition on the subject so I think it’s wise to decide what it means to you, and tell your man what you expect from him. When it comes to romance, you need to know what you like about it, is it the action? Or the way it makes you feel?

Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams from "Blue Valentine" (2010)

Being romantic is not always about what your partner buys for you, or the holidays that he takes you on. It is also about simple loving actions and how they make you feel. With communication and patience, you can transform your man into the hopeless romantic that you have been longing for. View Post

After gaining 40 lbs (seriously?? where??) during her pregnancy, Beyonce is so dedicate to getting back in shape and has allegedly moved her  personal trainer, Marco Borges, into her house, according to the Daily Mail!

Her live-in trainer wakes her up at 5am for an intense, 2-hour workout session, followed by another 2-hour session at 5pm! They do a mix of cardio, Pilates, plyometrics, yoga and, of course, dance.

According to further reports she has lost a little over of 14 lbs….

Here’s how to get a small waist like Beyonce and remember to consult your doctor first before any diet regime:

1. Try a Cleanse Diet.  I have been on the Isagenix 9 day cleanse for life and have lost 10 lbs in the process – read my testimony here..the best part is that I experienced no “nasty” side effects.  And besides what better to remove all the toxins from your body with a nutrition supplement that still allows you to eat….

2. Get Your Dance On. Locate a Zumba studio/gym in your area that offers this dance craze.  Not ready to bust your moves in front of strangers, then try it out at home with the DVD collection set ($89.95, Amazon). Dancing can provide a high impact cardio workout. View Post

I am so on the fence with this one…I am a mom, but I hate dining with crying kids (even my own)..I too am a paying customer  and want to enjoy my eating experience, but when you bring kids to a restaurant, expect the unexpected, can someone say tantrum in 5…4…3…2..1!  So, according to Fox5, one Atlanta, GA, restaurant, Grant Central Pizza, decided to take a stand, posting the following message on the bottom of its menus:

Dear all present and future patrons: GCP is proud of its reputation as a family restaurant, a title that we will work to keep. Unfortunately a number of our diners have posted unpleasant experiences because of crying and unsupervised children. To ensure that all diners have an enjoyable lunch or dinner with us, we respectfully ask that parents tend to their crying tots outside.

The restaurant’s co-owner added that while he likes kids, he doesn’t want one cranky customer to ruin the dining experience of all the patrons.

So, it should come as no surprise that the move has proven controversial. People have strong opinions about childrens’ place (or lack thereof) in restaurants.

Is the “crying baby ban” fair? Do you think it discriminates families?
