The first weekend of this new month has come to an end and with that I have decided to share with you a new segment called “5 Things Trending For The Week Of…” Here I’ll share with you apps or products that makes motherhood a little easier.

{Mantraband, $25}

Mantrabrand: I’ve been seeing people everywhere wearing bangle bracelets with a saying engraved on them. They are bangles from Mantra Band. I must have them. Choose the color; silver, gold, or rose gold and then the phrase. My favorite is “Hakuna Matata”! There are longer and shorter sayings; “courage”, “freedom”, “she believed she could do, so she did”. LOVE all of them! They are hypoallergenic and made with a tarnish resistant material.

DRYNC is a free app that allows you to scan, track, share, and purchase wine INSTANTLY! Snap a photo of the label ANYWHERE, an ad, a billboard, or on the bottle, click buy, and the wine is on it’s way!  It’s available for iPhone, Android, and iPad.

The Makeup Genius app by L’Oreal Paris has been getting a lot of buzz. It’s not your standard makeup app, it’s a virtual tester that works great! You have the ability to try makeup on yourself and see how it looks as you apply it in real time. L’Oreal used a technology from Hollywood studios that has never been used in the beauty world. This is great if you want to try new styles and colors before buying them…and it’s free!

Mom Maps For me (Denise), Flywheel is the best way for me to keep track of my workouts. Browse your app store for fitness apps that will help you stay in shape, coordinate your workouts with your calendar and tell you how successful your session was.

The Kitchen Safe is a glass tupperware that locks your goodies up! You set a timer and The Kitchen Safe will not open until that time runs out. Set it to five days and you won’t be able to open that lid until the timer hits zero! I’ve seen pictures of people locking their video game controllers in there! Throw your phone in there for an hour if you want to keep it out of your hands – get creative! It’s $49 per container.

While there are tons of help books on becoming a mother, its still does not prepare you for what’s about to come. Lack of sleep, work/life balance, sibling rivalry (if there’s more in your clan) or to finding your mom-jo  isn’t something that can be written or we can prepare ourselves for. Just how you deal with it, is the answer! View Post

flipping the block

 Being a mother of two boys in an apartment I sometimes wish we had more space, but owning a home is a big challenge.  Buying a home that needs work and dealing with the stress of repairs, improvements, and everything else that comes with a home is scary.  That is why I have loved watching Flipping The Block on HGTV on Sunday nights.  They take pairs of contractors and place them in identical units and have them work their magic.  From new kitchens, bathroom, design, and turning a wreck into a masterpiece makes you see what can be done in a space you thought was hopeless.

The team that creates the best design and sells their unit for the highest prices collects a cool $50,000 prize.  Judges, HGTV stars Nicole Curtis (Rehab Addict) and Scott McGillivray (Income Property), will select winners each week to win a prize, including extra cash for their design budget and help from another one of the network’s popular designers, David Bromstad. Host Josh Temple, a licensed contractor, will guide the teams as they demo, renovate and sell the units

Fans can learn more about the teams by visiting http://www.hgtv.com/flipping-the-block/show/index.html
