Yesterday, I was invited to attend a fabulous Tweet-Up event hosted by Children’s Tylenol located on the rooftop of the Hudson Terrace NYC located at 621 West 46th Street.  Among the sea of beautiful bloggers were moms like me, who were vying to ask the well renowned pediatrician and author of Mommy Calls: Dr. Tanya Answers Parents’ Top 101 Questions About Babies and Toddlers,  Dr. Tanya (@DrMommyCalls) our kids health concerns. But before Dr. Tanya started her Q&A, we were able to indulge in some delish refreshments, lunch and yummy dessert.

After hamming it up for the prop photo booth with new blogger friend Pamela over at A Little Glitter, we were introduced to The Children’s Health Fund and of their amazing health care resources, especially of their mobile clinics aka “doctor on wheels”.  These mobile clinics are readily available in New York City outside of shelters and schools where children have little to no health care.

After a brief tour of the mobile unit, we were then brought back inside to begin the Q&A with Dr. Tanya Altman.  She answered everything from cold & flu season to how to handle a biting toddler (um, that was my question).

All in all, for cold  & flu:

1. Keep your kids from touching their faces.  Germs are usually in our hands and when it goes to the face, that’s how germs spread

2. Get flu vaccinated.  The flu mist is mostly popular amongst kids.  If you have trouble remembering when to get vaccinated, mark your calendars the week of Halloween.

3. Download the must have mom app:  Kid’s Wellness Tracker. Its tracks your Tylenol dosages and children’s vaccinations. This is a great resource for on the go moms.

Me and the Dr. Tanya….if she lived nearby I would be calling her everyday about raising boys..um she’s expiating baby boy #3 (congrats!)

Most recently I attended a blogger event and after attending several of these events, you could say that networking has become an art to me.  But that being said, that was never the case pre-blogging.  Call me “the shy one” or the “one that preferred to observe”, I always felt threatened or never smart enough to engage in conversations in a group setting, saying something that didn’t matter always made me shy aware from meeting new people.  But that all changed the moment I became a mom and a blogger.  The power of networking has not only been beneficial to building relationship for me and my kids, but has gained me the confidence needed to become a “mompreneur”.

If you want to become more effective at connecting with people, consider these seven habits that I have learned along the way:
