I’VE MADE IT!! As a parent this is a huge milestone, my son is 6 months today and they are so many accomplishment to take about. Any you would like to share?
First and foremost, my son is rollin, rollin, rollin as well as eatin, eatin, eatin…
Rolling over can be fun for your baby, but it can also be nerve-racking for you. Keep a hand on your baby during diaper changes, and never leave him unattended on a bed or any other elevated surface.
One thing will become clear: Your baby is beginning to expand his attention-getting repertoire to include more than crying. You may notice him wriggling, making noises, blowing “raspberries,” and so on. Over the next three months, he’ll develop a uniquely personal way of letting you know what he thinks, wants, and needs.
Don’t be surprised if your baby’s stools change color and odor as soon as he starts eating even tiny amounts of solids. This is normal. If his stools seem too firm, switch to other fruits and vegetables and oatmeal or barley cereal. (Rice cereal, bananas, and applesauce may be constipating.)
Actress, former queen talk show host and producer of the documentary The Business of Being Born (a must-see!), Ricki Lake appeared on “The Wendy Williams Show” this morning. Lake dished about her boys, life after talk show, finding love after divorce and her powerful book “Your Best Birth: Know all your options, discover the natural choices, and take back the birth experience”.
Ricki is an advocate for child birth choices and has team up with her friend, Abby Epstein, to discuss on air to promote the choices best for women during pregnancy. Epstein mentioned that she had a VBAC Delivery (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) with her second child. As I and most woman may think that once you have had c-section you always a c-section, however Epstein and Lake both disagree, they both say that this is not the case and that is why the book was written “women should care about the process about giving birth and have access to choice.”
Your Best Birth is devoted to helping mothers “explore the full spectrum of choices you have in giving birth.” The authors, Lake and define a “best birth” as “one where you feel empowered because you know all your options and are confident in the decisions you have made about your birth.” They state, “we believe that you can place the health and well-being of your newborn as your highest priority and still have an optimal, empowering experience that is right for you both – whether that is in your bed, in your bathtub, in a hospital room, or on an operating table.”
