Some women are destine to become mothers, but when they have no boyfriends or husbands to speak of they decide to take matters in their own hands.

“I don’t need a man to have a baby” rings true to women whose clocks are ticking.  With Artificial Insemination and adoption on the rise why does a woman need a man???  Statistics have found that women in their 30’s, 40’s and even 50’s and who are financially stable are the ones leading this trend.

Just take it from celebrities like Meg Ryan (Actress) and Sheryl Crow (Singer), they both found that adopting a child was all the inspiration they needed to complete their family, minus the man.  “A family doesn’t always look like girl meets boy, they fall in love, they get married, they have a kid,” Crow has said.

Roughly two million Graco strollers—all distributed prior to January 2008—were recalled because they can place children at risk of strangulation and entrapment.

Consumers should immediately stop using the 2010 Graco Metrolite and Graco Quattro Tour  Strollers and contact Graco for a free repair kit. To order a repair kit, contact Graco toll-free at 877-828-4046 anytime, or visit the company’s Web site at gracobaby.com. Consumers can continue use of the stroller as a “travel system.” When the stroller is used with the infant car seat, the entrapment and strangulation hazards posed by the space gap are not present. For additional information, consumers can contact Graco at 800-345-4109 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday

Granted I have only been a mom for 10 months, but everyday are life lessons and here’s what I’ve learned:

1. Unconditional Love Does Exist – Just when you thought that you and hubby were soul mates, sorta true, but your true soul mate is your lil one, that is true love!

2. Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff – Days and nights are not always the same, so just take one day at a time.

3. Its OK to be Silly – I am a one woman show. I dance. sing.  act. My Lil’ one loves it when I sing Elmo tunes to him, I am a true comedienne.

4. Flexibility is Key – Waking up odd hours of the night to feed, cuddle and kiss your lil one is all part of the fun.  Try not to take these days for granted ’cause it sure does go by fast.

5. Network – Meeting up with other mommies (new/old) can make you feel like you are not in this alone.  Whatever you are going through, trust me, that same mommy has or is going through the same thing.  So get out and meet a mommy today.

6. All Clothes Should Be Washable – From pants, tops, toys, you name it.

7. Your Baby is Not a Food Critic – Its ok if you lil’ one does not like your homemade food. He/she is just going through a stage and is still exploring textures. Don’t take is personally.

8. Bargain Shopping Is Fun (and a MUST!) – If you are a SAHM like me then bargin shopping is a must. Check out Ebay or Craigslist for lightly used or worn items, such as strollers, toys, games, etc.

9. Don’t Neglect Your Friends – They keep you in check.  Leave you lil ones with the hubby or a family member/close friend for a few hours, this way you can reminisce about old times and catch up on the latest gossip.

10. Just a Little Patience – There are days when I feel like I am running on empty.  Figuring out new and exciting ways to entertain your lil one can be exhausting, but don’t run yourself down and beat yourself over it, just kicking back and reading a good book with your lil one is just as rewarding and educationational.

Here’s a pic of Me and Lil’ B enjoying a day of Apple Picking at Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery in Warwick, NY.
