What is a curly haired mom suppose to do in this humidity?  yes, I blow dry my hair but I enjoy the air-dried look now and again, but with my coarse, curly hair its turns out looking like an overused Brillo Pad…Yikes! that’s a sure fire way to scare my little one.  In my prior life, I worked in the beauty biz, so bringing home the latest and greatest in makeup and haircare items (for free!) were a beauty product junkies dream.  But now being a stay at a home mom, with an extra mouth to feed those luxurious are a thing of the past…or is it?  My love for trying new products is still in me so my daily trips to the local drugstore with baby in tow gets my engine revving.

So in need of some R&R for my hair, I tried Garnier Fructis Blow Dry Perfector ($11, Drugstores). After reading the reviews online I didn’t expect drastic results just an egg smell odor that suppose to last for days.  Ok, so yes the egg smell odor was an understatement, but for the money it was totally worth the whiff.

It was a simple step process (wash, add serum (aka smelly part), leave on for 30 minutes, rinse and add conditioner cream).  Simple!  In the end it left my hair feeling soft and manageable and was easy to blow dry.  For the real test, I did leave my hair to air dry and believe it or not my hair did not turn into an overused Brillo pad! I am repeat customer!

Getting to know your hair is like getting to know a new friend.  Finding the right hair gel, hairspray, clips and even the right hairstylist can be challenging at times, but don’t fret it’ll come in time. Just practice practice practice!

So besides using Fructis’s Blow Dry Perfector I have other items that I thought you may want look into…items you can find all at your local drugstore and/or supermarket.  And the best thing thing about it is that there are all under $20.

  1. Oscar Blandi, Pronto  Dry Shampoo Spray, 1.4 oz spray ($11, Sephora).  It’s great for absorbing oil and restoring body. I use it when I want to give my hair a break from being washed. But don’t overdo it—a little goes a long way.
  2. Lemon Juice ($3, at grocery stores).  In the summer before I go out in the sun, I pour this lemon juice in a spray bottle and spritz it all over my hair. It helps lighten highlights and gives hair a sunkissed look. I’ve been doing this trick since I was a teenager. View Post

So with my son growing up so fast, I felt the urge to spruce up his nursery..hmm, is it still considered a nursery now that he is no longer a newborn?…anyways, since Elmo appears to be a distant memory and his love for trains, planes and automobiles are apparent, I wanted to do something special for Lil B (finally his name will be revealed below).  After browsing online for the perfect something (not sure what) I later came across a company called Graphic Spaces, they specialize in artsy creations for kids’ room with reasonable prices.

My new friends over at Graphic Spaces was not informed of my mommy blog nor is aware of this post, but I just had to give them some Internet love. The creator of Graphic Spaces, Christy Wernet creates such cool vinyl wall decals, room accessories and furniture for kids of all ages. So thanks to the Airplane Boy Skywriter wall decal sticker, his bedroom (yep, no longer a nursery) is perfect for my little man.  The decal set includes the plane, clouds, birds, and everything you need to apply it to your wall – including a surprise gift and how-to instructions. But you must be sure to read the instructions before installing cause once its positioned onto your wall then its there for good.

There’s more than airplanes in the shop, Check out Graphic Spaces for a wide selection of removable wall decals.

Here’s a pic of my son’s wall decal
