Why We Don’t Like Peanuts (and not the kind you think!)

This post comes after I have read several parenting sites complain about the annual special “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” segueing into the steamy sex scene from “Scandal”. While I agree that it was indeed an oversight, I do believe that another issue should be addressed…

Everything about Charlie Brown and friends is depressing, crude and annoying! Which is why you are banned from my home!

There I said it…Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang are way too mean for me and my kids to watch.  Say what you must about Calliou’s whiny voice or Thomas The Train work ethics so why are you not adding the Peanuts gang’s to your holiday TV roundup???

Charlie Brown has been a household name and one of my favorite TV shows growing up and I could not wait to share one of my childhood experiences with my very own kids…until after watching it the first year I became a parent.

With words like “stupid”, “dumb” and “blockhead” and the continuous teasing and bullying that was aired on this “holiday” special, I was shocked to learned that while we fight against too much sex scenes on TV why can’t we fight for bad language in our cartoons?

Is this the kid of language you want your kids to copy?

One could argue that I am sheltering my kids from reality, but teaching my kids respect and acceptance when meeting new kids is one trait that I am proud of them for.

Now you sound off…what old favorites TV shows have you banned now that you are a parent?
